Maritza's story

Maritza, 46, is a hardworking, cheerful woman in addition to being kind with a strong wish to make progress. She’s married to Cesar who works for the public defender’s office. She lives comfortably in a rented house with her spouse and two children who are 24 and 18 years of age.

Maritza’s work is selling fast-food like Broasted chicken and fried chicken wings, among others at night. She sets up in front of a store near her mother’s house. She’s been in business for about a year and her sister helps her. She also works selling women’s and men’s clothes that her aunt sends her from Lima every two months to then sell from place to place with her oldest so among her acquaintances and her fast-food customers.

What she enjoys about her work is that it allows her to have an occupation since she was unable to complete higher education and needed to have a job and income to help her husband with household expenses since her children had schooling costs and more needs. Now, seeing the good results she gets from generated profits, she plans to open a boutique or a restaurant. She will use the requested 1,000 new soles to buy women’s and men’s clothes at wholesale prices to resell to her acquaintances in light of the Christmas season.
