A loan of $925 helped a member to harvest rice and buy pigs to start a new pig business.

Pann's Group's story

Forty-year-old Pann resides in a rural village of Siem Reap province’s Srey Snom district in Cambodia. She is married and blessed with three sons and a daughter, all of whom are currently in school. To make a living, she works as a rice farmer on a two-hectare plot of farmland, earning around 15,000KHR per day.

Pann has been with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner) for four loan cycles already, with which she accomplished sending her children to school. Now she is leading a group of four female members to take out a loan in the amount of 3,600,000KHR in total. The group leader, Pann, will use some portion of her loan to harvest rice. The other portion of the loan will be spent on buying pigs to raise as a new business. She hopes to raise healthy and fat pigs. Via the help of this loan, she highly believes that she can increase her income and use the anticipated profits to further pursue her children’s educations.
