A loan of $525 helped a member to buy fertilizers and spend on labor harvesting rice.

Heng's Group's story

Heng is 40 years old and lives with her husband and five children in a rural village of the Moung Russey district. Out of her five children, she has three children to take care of that are still in school. Rice farming is the main source for her family’s income and she has been farming rice on a five-hectare area of farmland for 12 years. The current business earns her family the daily income of about 27,000KHR but she is able to save 10,000KHR each day.
This is the first loan for Heng’s group of two members. She is now leading her group to apply for a loan of 1,000,000KHR each. As the leader, she will use her portion to buy fertilizers for her farmland and use a portion of it to spend on labor in harvesting rice. Heng hopes to get a high yield from her rice-paddy to make a better living and keep her children in school.
