Phat's Group's story

A citizen from a rural area located in the Sampov Meas District where rice farming is a common way to earn a living, Phat is aged 30 years and married with six children, three of whom are dependent on him. He and his wife have struggled to feed their family by farming rice on one hectare of farmland for 20 years. The current business earns him approximately 20,000 KHR per day.

Phat’s group consists of five members, and he is in his fifth micro loan with Kiva partner, VisionFund. He fully paid back the past loans, which have helped him better support his family. Now he is leading his group to request another loan. As the leader, he is going to use his portion to buy fertilizer for his farmland. He hopes to grow his rice healthfully so as to make a better living.
