A loan of $975 helped to buy cosmetics.

Floricenda Del Rocio's story

The members of the La Cantera communal bank meet every two weeks in the area known as El Cady in the city of Portoviejo. Most of the people here are farmers.

Floricenda lives here. She is 44 year old, married, and has three adult children and one 17 year old. Two of them still live at home and study at university. Her husband is a private employee.

“Flerida” is a woman who likes to value herself through her own means and be able to help her children with their school expenses through her work. She sells Yanbal and Esika brand products (beauty products for men and women, cosmetics, perfume, and accessories). She sells door to door and also out of her home to her closest friends and neighbors. She sells for credit and collects every week and has been doing this for two years.

She will use the money from this loan to buy perfumes, creams, and women’s accessories. She has been part of the communal bank since the beginning and she likes it because of the help they have provided. Her dream is to see her children become professionals.
