Nancy Lia's story

The members of the Los Compañeros communal bank meet every two weeks in the city of Portoviejo, capital of Manabí, known as the city of the royal tamarinds. Nancy lives here. She is 56 years old, married, and has four adult children on their own. Her husband is a teacher. Nancy is a hardworking woman who always liked working to help her husband get ahead and provide a good education for their children. She started her food business several years ago, and over time improved it until she had a great restaurant. She prepares her delicious dishes that she sells from her stand and for parties and social gatherings. She works with eight people who receive a monthly salary. She has had this business for more than 22 years and this is why she has many orders and customers who visit her restaurant each day to have her quality dishes. She will use the money from this loan to buy rice, meat, fish and other foods to prepare her dishes. She has been with the communal bank since the beginning and is the group’s president. She likes it because of the quick loans and help. Her goal is to continue her business.
