A loan of $600 helped to buy oil, rice, pasta, and sugar in bulk.

Fanis's story

Fanis is 47 years old and has a shop where she has been selling groceries, snacks, food, and soft drinks for three years. She started out selling natural juices made from fruits that were harvested each season, but she gradually began selling other items. Her business was converted into a store, which she had to sell along with her home because of her young son’s illness. She did not have time to manage a business since she had to attend to her son’s health issues.

Her current business resulted from an opportunity presented to her three years ago and now it enables her to provide for her household. Her sales are conducted from a shop that is located in her home and it allows her to have direct contact with her customers. Fanis buys her products from wholesalers that offer the best prices and discount specials. They also guarantee that they will have products in stock.

At the moment, Fanis is applying for a Kiva loan so that she can buy products in bulk and with cash such as oil, rice, pasta, and sugar. This will strengthen her business and provide a variety of products for her inventory so that she can respond to her customers with what they need. She will generate more income, thus resulting in a successful investment of her Kiva loan.
