Maria's story

María is 66 years old and the mother of nine children between the ages of 24 and 36. She sells beef and entrails on the weekends and has been doing this for 32 years. She began this business to help support her household. She sells from her front door where she sets up a table for her products and sells them by the pound. 80% of her sales are for cash and 20% for credit. She makes her purchases in the nearby towns where there are slaughterers and sell at good prices.

María currently has had three previous loans through Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, with which she was able to increase her sales and noticed an increase in the number of customers. Her goal is to increase her sales in the future, no less than 38%, and improve her home’s infrastructure, so she works hard and organized. She is asking for a Kiva loan to buy meat in quantity. This will allow her to access larger discounts and offer better deals to her customers.

She wants to take advantage of the Christmas and New Year season, when her number of customers increases. Their needs to buy meat products for the family Christmas and New Year festivals that are around the corner and when everyone is in a good mood and united.
