A loan of $1,275 helped to purchase a cow and a calf.

Fatima's story

Fatima is 53 years old and she is the mother of five children: two daughters and three sons. Her middle son has died, but the rest of the children are grown up and are working; her daughters are married and her eldest son lives with her. Fatima is a widow - her husband died suddenly in 1991. She started her business with her husband and after he died she was left alone with the all the household problems. Despite all the troubles, Fatima is still lively and cheerful. She firmly believes in a bright future for her family. Fatima is involved in animal husbandry, which is the main source of income for her family. She started this may years ago when she and her husband purchased two heifers for 60,000 som (KGS) and she now has two dairy cows and 20 sheep on her farm. Her monthly income from the farm is about 6,000 som (KGS) from the sale of milk and dairy products. To further increase her business, Fatima has turned to Bai Tushum and Partners for a loan of 60,000 som (KGS) to buy one cow and one calf. She plans to use the proceeds from the loan to increase her farm's capacity and she would like to pay for her grandchildren's education.
