Greetings from Peru! This group is called Las Forjadoras de Villa Del Norte.

This group is new. Five friends formed it. One of the members is Delia who is 43 years old. She is divorced and lives with her two children.

Delia is engaged in different trades. She has a store in her home where she sells all types of staples. She also rents a part of her home such as the garage where the market traders keep their carts. Thanks to the income she gets she can provide her children with a good education and cover the basic household costs her family requires.

Delia always wanted to have her own business so as to not neglect her children and feels happy to have achieved her dream. Now she wants to continue working to improve her store and stock it with more products. The loan that EDAPROSPO will provide her will be invested in the purchase of special Christmas products such as panettones and chocolates.

During the holiday season sales increase and that’s why she wants to stock these products in order to be able to satisfy her customers.

Delia wants to thank all the loaners for supporting her communal group. In the photograph she is wearing a blue polo.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
