A loan of $475 helped to buy organic manure.

Juana's story

Juana, 66, is an unassuming woman living with Hilario, her husband of 40 years. They have five children but only two of them still live with her in her own house. Since she was a girl she’s liked living in the countryside enjoying its climate and greed pastures. Because of this, she continues working and despite her advanced age wants to die in the same countryside where she grew up in planting and caring for her animals.

Her main crops are potatoes, peas and lima beans that she sells each harvest season in the city of Huancayo or in the nation’s capital where she earns greater income. She does all this thanks to support from her husband and her children who she taught the occupation of agriculture. In the same way, she cares for her cattle, quality cows she extracts milk from to consume and sell at higher prices earning extra income that helps her make progress.

This is her 4th MFP loan and she’s grateful for the economic support she’s getting because she’ll be able to continue with her projects to improve her business. She promises to be punctual with her payments, too. Juana will invest the money in the purchase of organic manure to nourish her pasturage fields to feed her animals.
