A loan of $500 helped to buy stock merchandise for her store.

Claudia Carolina's story

Claudia Carolina, 34, is a single mother of two children who are 11 and 9 years old; she lives in León Department, a place located on the country’s west zone. Her economic activity is a ‘pulpería’ located at home. A pulpería is a store that sells food items in small amounts like packets of coffee, packets of shampoo, cigarettes by the unit, rice, sugar, oil, soap, eggs and milk. She’s had the store 8 years and has been responsible with her payments; she’s made them on time and as scheduled. The objective of the loan is to invest in working capital to stock the store with items of daily home consumption. Claudia Carolina is grateful for the support Kiva lenders offer people of scarce resources and to poor countries like Nicaragua so they can have a way to earn a living with dignity.
