A loan of $400 helped to buy compost and pay for labor.

Katia's story

Katia is 20 years old and is a young single woman with many desires to succeed. She lives with her mother in a house she inherited from her father. Three years ago, motivated by staying alongside her family and to help them move ahead, she took charge of the farmland that he father used to work. Since then she has been raising cacao and coffee in her zone.

She likes her work because she considers it to be safe and relaxing to be able to win her daily bread alongside her family.

In order to begin her planting season for these grains, she would like to be able to count on working capital so that she can hire field hands to help her do things like weed the land and clear her parcels so that she can optimize her production. She also wants to buy sacks of compost containing bird guano. This is exactly what her plants need.

This will be her second loan through MFP and she is grateful for the opportunity. She feels confident and committed to make her payments on time. She is a very active member and works as the group’s secretary.

She will use the 1,000 PEN to hire field hands who will help her clean off the land. She will also buy sacks of compost with guano in order to have quality production.
