A loan of $3,025 helped a member to buy vicuna wool to make her creations to sell later.

10 Estrellas Del Norte Group's story

The community bank “10 Estrellas del Norte will begin the second cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Centro Focal de Alto Lima. There are eight members and it is headed by a board with Lidia as the President.

The business that the members of the communal bank are involved in are diverse and among them are: selling ice cream, knitting baby clothing, tire store, neighborhood store, selling soft drinks and gelatin, butcher shop, selling shoes and spinning wool. The loan that they are taking will benefit the small micro entrepreneurs in different ways.

Lidia is part of the group. She indicates that this is the third year belonging to Pro Mujer, joining at the invitation of a supporter of the institution who visited her at home.

Currently she has two hand-spun vicuna wool businesses. She learned from her mother years ago and today she still works at it. The loan that she is now taking is to increase her capital (to buy vicuna wool) that she will buy from the popular markets in the city of El Alto, and later she will sell her creations from orders. This kind of work permits her to generate income to support as much as possible her household as she is single and has a son.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she responded that she likes the credit and health training.
