A loan of $1,500 helped to buy a zig zag sewing machine, two ordinary sewing machines, and dressmaking supplies for her business.

Gloria Elizabeth's story

Gloria is 27 years old. She has a partner and a son. She is a young entrepreneur who since childhood has worked very hard along with her grandmother doing the household chores as her mother died when she was a young girl. This is why she grew up with her grandparents supporting her.

She attended a dressmaking course in the community where she lives. When she was 23 years old she joined with her partner and they had a son. Despite having her family she continued her studies and last year she graduated from high school.

She has a tailor’s shop making pants, shirts and skirts. She also makes school uniforms for some schools. All the supplies that she needs such as buttons, thread, zippers, among others, she buys in a city, a half hour trip and her young son accompanies her.

The loan that she is asking for through Fundación is in order to buy a zig zag sewing machine, two ordinary sewing machines and dressmaking supplies.

With the investment she will be able to hire more staff as the demand is quite large and she could get more income. Among her plans is to have a better established tailor’s shop, to work in better conditions, and to improve her home.
