Kobla Group's story

Meet with members of the “Kobla” group from Kabala, a town in northern Sierra Leone. They are all local entrepreneurs who have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva, to apply for a loan of 2,000,000 for the entire group. With the help of this loan they will be able to expand their businesses, make more sales and consequently improve on their living conditions.

Mohamed, who is pictured in the middle, is the leader of this group. The 46-year-old is married to a businesswoman and they have 5 children. Mohamed has been a businessman for 32 years now; he makes and sells shoes in wholesale to retailers. With his share of this loan, he is going to buy materials for shoe production in bulk, in order to be able to make a larger number of shoes for sale.
