A loan of $1,125 helped to buy more drugs to sell.

Gorret's story

Gorret is 33 years old and lives in the town of Kalerwe in the Kampala east region of Uganda. She is married and has 4 children with 2 of them currently in school. For the past 8 years, Gorret has been working hard to manage her small clinic, which sells drugs.

To help expand her business, Gorret has requested a loan of 3000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more drugs for selling, and will help Gorret to generate greater profits and pay school fees for her children. Gorret hopes that in the future she will be able to open up a hospital of her own.

Gorret is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Gorret who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
