A loan of $1,125 helped to buy more drinks such as lemonade, wine and beer for resale.

William's story

William is 27 years old and lives in the town of Kabwohe in the Kabwohe region of Uganda. He is married and has two children with one of them currently in school. For the past three years, William has been working hard to manage his small bar, which sells drinks.

To help expand his business, William has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more drinks such as lemonade, wine, and beer for resale, and will help William to generate greater profits and pay medical bills for his children and school fees. William hopes that in the future, he will be able to expand his business into a depot.

William is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like William who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
