Shameem's story

Ms Shameem is a 42-year-old, an energetic married woman. She has been doing a business of ‘waan’ manufacturing which is a material used in making 'charpoy' (a bedstead of woven webbing or hemp stretched on a wooden frame on four legs, common in Pakistan). She has 10 years of experience in this field.


She offers various kinds of 'waan' in different colors, and she is famous for providing a good quality product to her community. In this way she is able to manage the needs of her family members. Her husband is an employee in a sugar mill but his income is not sufficient to meet the needs of his family members.

Shameen is a mother of six children. She requires improving her business so she applied for a loan of Rs. 25,000 to buy another 'waan'-making machine to make the ‘waan’ with fresh quality thread, to increase her sales.
