A loan of $800 helped to buy a sewing machine and supplies.

Lucy's story

Lucy is 59 years old and is a happy woman with many desires to succeed. She is also friendly and cordial. She’s divorced and lives with her 24 year old daughter. They live comfortably in their own home. Lucy sews and learned this art at a trade school and later bought a swing machine with her savings and set it up in her home, where she sees clients who seek her out. She was able to win the acceptance of regular customers over the 10 years she has been in business. She built it herself.

She likes her business and likes sewing. It also provides her a good income that helped her support her daughter’s educational expenses. She says that she is a little uncomfortable with having to sit in the same position, which causes her back pain, but this does not deter her and she will continue to work. She plans to expand her business, buy sewing machines, and provide employment to other people. This will be her 14th loan through MFP and she is grateful for the financial assistance she has been getting and wants to continue. As before, she is committed to making her payments on time as with the previous loans. She also says that she is comfortable with the communal bank because she knows that the members are good people.

She will use the 2,000 PEN from this loan to invest in a 900 PEN sewing machine and supplies such as fabric, thread, and other things.
