Karen's story

Karen is 20 years old, she is single and she has no children. She is a lovely, responsible and hardworking woman who lives in her own house along with her whole family, which includes her parents and siblings, and she daily works to improve her standard of living as well as for the sake of her family. Karen runs a general store where she sells groceries and basic necessities. She opens the doors of her shop very early every morning in order to tend to her customers, who come to her shop because they know they will find what they need there. Hers is the best supplied store of her neighborhood, and her customers have no doubts in buying her products both because of the quality of every article she sells and for the deep kindness she expresses with her every word. She remembers that when she started her activity she did not have many products to offer, and for this reasons her sales were not good in those days. This initially discouraged her, but she succeeded in finding a solution. She gathered a small working capital and she started supplying her shop a little bit at the time; 5 years have passed since those first days, and things are now going very well with her sales.
What she likes the most about her job is to share moments of happiness with her customers, chatting with them and watching them start their day with a smile. She says that getting up very early to go to work in her shop is the part she finds most difficult; however, even when she feels tired she knows that this is her job and that she has to do it. She hopes that her activity will grow in the future, thus granting her a better income. This is the 5th individual loans she is requesting to MFP: she is very happy to know she can count on financial support, as through this mean she will feel more confident in making her activity progress; at the same time she once more commits to punctually comply with the repayment of her dues, just as she has done with the previous loans she has requested. She is very happy to be working with the institution because they confide in her.
The 1500 PEN she is requesting will be used to buy more products to supply her general store. She will buy bread, fizzy drinks, canned food and sweets.
