A loan of $775 helped to buy supplies.

Patricia Evangelina's story

The “Madre Para Un Futuro Mejor” communal bank meets every two weeks in the “24 de Mayo” settlement, located in the Manabí province, known for its beautiful landscape, its forests, variety of fauna, and for its friendly, hardworking people dedicated to farming and livestock.

Patricia lives here. She is 52 years old, married, and has three children; one adult and two others, aged 17 and 15. One attends school and the other doesn’t go to school because he’s handicapped. Her husband is a driver.

She learned to be a beautician a few years ago at a local beauty academy and now she has a salon where she does things like tints, cuts, and manicures among other things. She works from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm and sometimes later if her customers need her services. Aside from this business she also has two display cases where she sells clothing and Sayson and Lebel brand products (beauty products, cosmetic, perfumes, and ladies’ accessories) which she can sell at the same time that she does her other work. She’s been doing this for 15 years and has many customers who prefer her because of the good work she does.

She will use the money from this loan to buy clothing, tints, permanents, and cosmetics. She has been with the communal bank for five years and likes being able to get loans.

Her dream is for her son to be in good health.
