Agatha's story

Agatha lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is married with two children who are attending school. She does not look after additional members of the family. She has been selling sweets, books, pens and biscuits by the roadside at retail for 11/2 years, working six days a week. She also operates a canteen as another source of income.

She has requested a loan of 400,000 UGX from MCDT- SACCO to enable her stock more sweets, pens, books, loaves of bread and biscuits to sell. Her challenges include weather. Her dream is to expand her business and accumulate profits that will enable her to buy land. She joined MCDT because she wanted to increase her capital. She stays in a rented house with access to electricity and no piped water. Her major monthly expenses are rent and school fees.
