Muloma Association Group's story

Pictured above are teachers of the Muloma Association from the eastern city of Kenema. This group of teachers have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva.org based in Makeni, northern Sierra Leone, to apply for a loan of 500,000 Leones for each in the group. With the help of this loan, each of these borrowers will be able to add more inventories in their respective businesses. This will lead to more sales, more profit and improvement in their standard of living. Baindu is the featured leader of this group. A native of Kailahun, the 32-year-old is married to a trader and the two have three children, one in primary school and two in secondary. Baindu has been a businesswoman for many years now. She sells ready-to-wear clothes and has been running this type of business for many years now. With the help of this loan, she is going to buy a large number of ready-to-wear clothes to add to her current ones.
