A loan of $1,000 helped to purchase a boat and nets.

Maribel's story

Maribel is 22 years and makes a living selling fish. Her husband is a fisherman, and she sells the fish that he catches on Lake Titicaca. They live on an island in the lake, which is a tourist center in the department of La Paz, offering local crafts made from reeds and wool. The majority of the inhabitants make a living in fishing and tourism. This is her first loan with this institution, and Maribel plans to use it to purchase a bigger fishing boat and nets. She sells her fish in the city of La Paz, and with this new boat she wants to increase her production and satisfy her customers' demands. Maribel is a person with a desire to move up in life, and she feels happy and grateful for the institution for providing support because her business is her only source of income and she needs to maintain it.
