Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $700 helped to purchase supplies (chicks, feed, vitamins, etc.) for raising broiler chickens.

Fernando's story

Fernando is married and has three children, two of whom attend school. He lives with his family in a house he owns and also supports his mother and a nephew by sending money to help with their food expenses.
He works in sales for a company named Darling, and he owns his own business raising and selling broiler chickens. With the current loan he intends to purchase supplies (chicks, feed, vitamins, etc.) in order to increase production.
In the future he wishes to expand his business and remodel his house. For that reason he pledges to repay the loan as scheduled so he can request more loans from Hluvuku.
The challenge he faces is not having enough funds and repaying the loan within schedule.
