Rosa's story

Rosa is 62 years old. She’s a widow and has seven children, but none live with her anymore. She has a home of her own and lives with one of her granddaughters. Rosa is a very hardworking and charismatic woman and has been making food at a food stall for more than 15 years. The stall is in a good location because it’s in an area where a school, a university, and an institution are located. “I sell breakfasts and lunches. Each day I sell about 35 portions, each at 4 PEN. Yes’ it’s profitable,” she says.

She also sells candies and carbonated soft drinks.

All of her effort is for her niece and for her children who are studying in a faraway town. One of her main challenges has been to acquire merchandise to supply more customers, but she feels more comfortable with MFP’s help. Now this area will be more visited during the Christmas season, so she needs more help. This will be her 10th loan through MFP and she feels grateful for so many years of trust. She says that she will be on time with her monthly payments.

She will invest the 2,000 PEN in ingredients such as rice, sugar, cooking oils, meat, vegetables, and other things to prepare her dishes.
