A loan of $1,025 helped a member to increase her inventory of raw food such as Irish potatoes for the business.

Veronica's Group's story

Veronica's group is comprised of 6 hard working women. Veronica is 19 years old and lives in the town of Bombo in the Luwero region of Uganda. She is married and has one child. For the past 2 years, Veronica has been working hard to manage her small business, which sells raw food such as Irish potatoes.

To help expand her business, Veronica has requested a loan of 500000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to increase her inventory and buy more raw food for the business and will help Veronica to generate greater profits and start another business. Veronica hopes that in the future she will be able to extend the business.

Veronica is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
