A loan of $1,050 helped a member to buy traditional soaps.

Benkadi (L’Entente Est Bonne) Group's story

Benkadi is a group of women from the Darsalam I neighborhood of the city of Koutiala, who live in large traditional families. They are married and, on average, are 43 years old and have six children each.

This group of women sells various items such as "pagnes" (traditional African fabrics), cosmetics, firewood, medications, incense etc. In order to increase the size of their businesses, they have decided to join the loan program offered by Soro Yiriwaso. This is their second group loan.

Bintou is a member of the Benkadi group. In the photo, she is standing, first from the right. She plans to use her loan to buy five bags of traditional soaps. She buys her goods at the Koutiala market and resells them for cash from her home or at the market to a diverse retail customer base. While the other members of the group are each expecting average profits from this loan cycle to reach 75,500 CFA francs, Bintou is expecting average profits to reach 92,000 CFA francs.

In addition to repaying their loans, the members of the group will use part of their earnings to meet their personal expenses and boost their businesses.
