A loan of $775 helped to buy household articles and school materials.

Indaura Ismelda's story

The Communal Bank La Sequita meets in the parish of La Sequita, which belongs to Montecristi, a prosperous district of Manabita. It is full of hardworking, dedicated people who are proud of their roots. La Sequita is a parish where the people are honest, dedicated to their work and live only for their families.

In this place lives a woman called Indaura. She is 58 years old, and she lives with her common law husband. They have 8 children, all of them grown up. The youngest is studying at a college some distance away in Manta. Two of Indaura’s children still live with her. Her husband is a trader.

Indaura has a room in her house where she sells assorted household items and stationary. She works every day from 08:00 to 18:00, and sometimes even later, when her customers need something. Since she started receiving loans, she has been able to gradually make improvements to her shop and offer a bigger assortment of merchandise, in order to attract more clientele. Indaura has been running her business for 15 years and it has helped her to give her children a good education.

This loan is to buy household items and school materials in order to improve her business. She has been a member of the Communal Bank for more than 10 years and she likes the support that she receives.

Indaura’s dream is to carry on running her business.
