A loan of $1,300 helped to buy wood, paint, glue and other materials.

Magaly Lucia's story

The communal bank La Sequita holds its meetings at the Sequita Parish which belongs to Montecristi in the Manabita Canton. It is a place full of hard-working, dedicated people who are proud of their origins. La Sequita is a parish whose population is made up of honest people who only know how to work and care for their families.

This is where Magali, 23, lives. She and her common-law husband have a two-year-old son. Her husband is a furniture maker.

Magali is a good wife who is taking out the loan for her husband's business. He has a furniture workshop at home and makes a wide variety of wood products such as beds, furniture, doors, drawers, shelving, and many other items. He works on an order basis for people who visit the shop. His daily working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and sometimes later when he has a lot of work.

This loan will be used to buy wood, paint, glue and other materials for his products. Magali has been in the communal bank for two years and is thankful for the loans allowing her to help her husband, thereby contributing to the household.

Her dream is to have her own home, since she lives with her parents-in-law.
