A loan of $175 helped a member to buy materials for building a proper latrine.

Chanthou's Group's story

Chanthou, 46, lives in a rural area of the Kandal Stoeng district of Kandal province, Cambodia. She has four children, one of whom is dependent on her and still in school.

To support the family, she has been selling eggs and pork meat in a local area while her husband is a paid construction worker. The current business earns their family approximately KHR 48,000 per day and they can save about KHR 10,000 each day after daily expenses.

Chanthou’s group consists of four members who live in the same village and she is in her first microloan with Kiva’s partner VisionFund. She is now leading her group to request a loan of KHR 160,000 each. As the leader, she wants to use her portion to buy materials for building a proper latrine. She hopes to have healthy latrine for her family to use.
