Juan is originally from Boaco. He’s 31 years old, married, and has a three month old son. [Juan] is a merchant by trade. He began working, helping his father make shoes, but when he was 23 he decided to venture out on his own and start his own business, which he has had for more than 8 years. His wife helps him manage the business. He wants to expand and attract more customers so that he can have a better income and improve his family’s living conditions. Juan is asking for a loan so that he can buy supplies such as soles, glue, and nails for making shoes. He wants to have a greater variety around because the Christmas season is approaching and his sales are very good then. He hopes to increase his income, stock his business with new styles of shoes and sandals. His desire is to improve his quality of life.
