A loan of $2,500 helped a member to buy supplies for her beauty salon, like dyes, scissors, a hair dryer and clippers.

El Amanecer Group's story

The name of this group, composed of five joyful and enterprising women, is "El Amanecer". Each one has her own line of work: Arcenia has a beauty salon, Luz Elena sells cosmetics, Laura sells shoes, Maricruz sells cosmetics and Victoria sells groceries. They are located in a sugar cane region, where planting and growing sugar cane is the main source of jobs.

Mrs. Arcenia is 47 years old, she went to high school and she is married to Mr. Jorge. They have three kids together. She says that she wanted to have a source of income in order to help her husband with the home expenses, and one day she decided to start a course in beauty treatments. She learned to do haircuts and dye, and she opened her own beauty salon located right in the center of her town.

Mrs. Arcenia has been working in this activity for nine years now and she has managed to please her clients because she takes courses every time she can in order to stay up to date. She is happy because she feels that she is independent and that she has managed to give her children the opportunity to continue with their studies.

Arcenia will invest the money from the loan in dyes, scissors, gel, wax, razors, brushes, gloves, a hair dryer, nail polish and clippers.

She would like to see her children graduate and become professionals. She would also like to remodel her establishment.
