A loan of $1,725 helped a member to buy a supply of medicines.

Los Portales Group's story

“Los Portales” (The Portals) is a group of four, hardworking, cheerful, kind women. Each one of them carries out an economic activity to give their families a better quality of life. Miriam sells shoes, Silvia sells clothes, Maritza has a pharmacy and Ada Luz sells cosmetics. The group is located in a sugarcane growing region.

Ada Luz is 38-years-old and completed high-school. She’s married to Joel and they have a son. With help from her husband she opened a small pharmacy three months ago in the center of her community because she wanted to work to earn her own money and be able to help a little with household expenses. She says that despite being in business a short time she’s won over customers thanks to the good service and attention she gives to them. She’s very happy with her business and wants to gradually stock it more to provide better customer service. She will use the loan to buy a variety of medicines to stock her pharmacy.

The “Los Portales” group thanks Vision Fund for the support it’s giving them through this loan.
