A loan of $325 helped to purchase sacks of organic fertilizer.

Merlinia's story

Merlinia is a 21-year-old hardworking young woman. She lives with her parents in a rural district. She is charismatic and earnest. She supports her parents by working in the fields. Two years ago, she inherited a plot of land where she grows potatoes, lima beans, peas and corn. Once she started, she realized that a product is more lucrative when a larger quantity is harvested, so this year she grew potatoes, which she sold with success. This time she wants to plant corn and flowers because the climate and the month is right for good products and profits. Meanwhile, she also makes a living caring for livestock. For example, she sells milk and cheeses that she makes. Merlinia is constant in her activities and is requesting a loan to help her acquire more fertilizer to start planting corn and flowers. This is her second loan with Kiva partner MFP. She is grateful for the confidence in her once again and has no doubts that she will make her payments responsibly. She enjoys working with her "Las Estrellitas" community bank. With the loan, she will be able to purchase sacks of organic fertilizer to begin her plantings.
