A loan of $300 helped to buy 50 liters of motor oil, 100 liters of gas and 50 liters of gas-oil.

Youssouf's story

Born around November 1976 in Kati, Youssouf is married and father to one child. He lives with his family in a large traditional family in Hamdallaye, Sikasso (third administrative region of the republic of Mali). After having managed several businesses without success, Youssouf started to buy and sell motor oils, gas and gas-oil more than 3 years ago to a clientèle made up of all sectors of society. He is much requested by his clientèle because of the quality of his products. To satisfy his clientèle which is growing more and more, he decided to join the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso about several months ago and is on his first individual loan. Thus, with this first loan, he plans to buy 50 liters of motor oil, 100 liters of gas and 50 liters of gas-oil. He gets his supplies from the local wholesale service stations before reselling them retail, for cash and credit. With this first loan he envisions making an average monthly profit of 95,000 FCFA which will be used to increase his working capital, contribute to the family expenses and pay the interest on his loan.
