Vaqif's story

Vaqif is a 43-year-old man who is an internally displaced person (IDP). He lives in Bilasuvar, an IDP settlement, with his wife and three children. He is a farmer who has raised seasonal fruits and vegetables for the past 10 years. During these years, Vagif gained enough skills and experience to run his business. He chose this crop business because it is profitable and fresh fruits and vegetables are in high demand.

People use fresh vegetables every day and consider them healthy. Many national dishes are made of vegetables such as pilau and dolma. Fresh fruits are served on every table in Azerbaijan and are also used to make fresh punch. Vaqif usually sells his crops in the central bazaar every week. His monthly income is 120 AZN.

As these products are in high demand, Vagif wants to expand his business and produce more fruits and vegetables to meet the market demand. For this purpose he has applied for a 1500 AZN loan. He will buy new garden tools, seeds and fertilizers.
