A loan of $300 helped to buy fertiliser and to improve his crops.

Edilson's story

Edilson is 42 years old. He is married and has four children. His life has not been easy. His family was displaced because of La Violencia*, and they were forced to start a new life again from scratch. He and his family were forced to leave their home and their jobs. As a result, they settled in El Carmen de Viboral, a district of Antioquia, Columbia. Here, Edison has been working as a farm labourer. He has worked for four years as a labourer in the cultivation of flowers. Six months ago he decided to go independent and grow his own crop of pompoms. In this way, he hopes to improve his income and offer his family a decent life. He is applying for a loan to buy fertiliser and to improve the condition of his crops.

*Translator’s note: La Violencia - a long period of civil disturbances and killings beginning in 1948.
