A loan of $1,250 helped a member to buy wool.

Amigas De Sajama Group's story

The borrower group “Amigas de Sajama” will begin its first cycle with Pro Mujer as a part of the village bank "Centro Focal de Villa Adela". The group is made up of six members and is overseen by a committee of directors where Juana is the president. The businesses of the group members are varied and include: knitting blankets, selling undergarmets, selling fruit, selling skirts, selling knit sweaters, and selling underskirts. The loan they take out will benefit the small businesses, and Juana is the featured member. She says that this is the first time that she has worked with Pro Mujer, joining by invitation from a friend who is already a member of the institution. Currently, she has a business knitting on a machine. She says that she learned this trade from a previous job she held; she later decided to begin her own business. The loan that she is asking for now is to grow her capital by buying wool, which she will purchase in the wholesale stores. After production, she will sell her goods in orders by the dozen. Working in this way allows her to generate income; she is married and has one son. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she says that she likes the health and loan training sessions.
