A loan of $1,200 helped to buy a freezer, flatbed trailer, and tires in order to make and sell frozen fruit drinks.

José Saúl's story

José is 41 years old, has a wife, and has one son. He has worked his whole life planting basic grains like beans, corn and sorghum. He was taught by his grandparents and parents. With the passing of time he married and formed his own family. José works very hard for his family each day. He moved to the capital of his country 12 years ago in order to sell natural fruit drinks as a walking vendor in the streets and parks of the capital. Every two weeks José travels to the community where his family lives to see them and to work in the corn and bean fields that they own. The loan that he is requesting from Kiva partner Fundación Campo is for purchasing a freezer, flatbed trailer, and tires in order to make and sell the fruit drinks in the community where his family lives and not have to travel anymore to sell them in the capital. He is far from his family much of the time and this would make him the owner of his own business -- currently he is an employee for someone else. He hopes to obtain better income for his family and to have more time with them.
