Elen's story

Elen is 28 years old and a very hardworking and enterprising woman who is sure of herself. She is married to Segundo, the father of her two children, ages 13 and 14, and lives with her husband and children who are her motivation to search for a better quality of life. They live in a home of their own which she was able to build with her husband, thanks to lots of effort.

Elen sells lumber and has a workshop in a large space on her land. She works there with her husband’s help and cuts lumber for fences or for building homes. She has been doing this for 15 years because it provides a good income and she likes it because she can stay at home to raise her children and to housework. She also likes the income that she uses to help her husband pay the household expenses. She wants so set up a shop so she can increase her production and also wants to buy some carpentry equipment.

This will be her 11th loan through MFP and is grateful to those who make this loan possible. She feels more comfortable about being able to move ahead with her work and promises to make her payments on time. She feels comfortable and supported by the other members of her communal bank.

She will use the 1,500 PEN from this loan to buy lumber, chisels, sandpaper, and other things she uses in her work.
