A loan of $475 helped to buy carbonated soft-drinks, beer and snacks like chewing gum, candy and cookies.

Sandy's story

Sandy, 23, is a kind woman with dreams. She lives in her mother-in-law’s house with her spouse, Jorge, who works for a gas company. They have a two-year-old son they plan to give a good education. Sandy’s work consists in selling carbonated soft-drinks in assorted flavors and various brands of beer; she also sells snacks like chewing gum, candy, cookies, etc. She does this work in a space located in her mother-in-law’s house.

She’s had the business for two years, a dream she made reality at the age of 20 since she sold soft-drinks with her mother and that’s where she got the idea for her own business. Her spouse helps make the purchases to stock her economic activity and her mother-in-law helps with customer service. She comments that her activity is profitable because every afternoon many neighbors gather in front of her house to play bingo and they consume large quantities of the products she has for sale.

She comments that before starting this business she did not have a space of her own and had to go from place to place but then her mother-in-law offered her house so she could start her business. In future, she wants to finish building and furnishing her locale to provide better customer service and increase her profits which is why she’s asking for a 1,200 sol loan to buy larger amounts of soft-drinks in assorted flavors and beer of various brands as well as to buy snacks like chewing gum, candy, cookies, etc.
