A loan of $750 helped to buy soft drinks, rice and bedding.

Christine's story

Christine is 32 years old and lives in the town of Seeta in the Mukono region of Uganda. She is single and has two children, one currently in school. For the past four years, Christine has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells sugar, rice and flour.

To help expand her business, Christine has requested a loan of 12,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy soft drinks, rice and bedding, and will help Christine to generate greater profits to improve her way of living. Christine hopes that in the future, she will be able to be a good entrepreneur.

Christine is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Christine who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
