A loan of $1,025 helped to pay for graduation expenses.

Silvia Eugenia's story

Silvia is pursuing a law degree at San Franciso Xavier University. She is studying law because she believes that it is a field that will help her country progress and one that will allow her to help herself and her family live a better life. Without access to this student loan, she would need to focus less on her studies and direct her attention towards finding someone to help pay her tuition or risk having to drop out of school. For Silvia, a degree is an opportunity to earn a professional position and a professional paycheck. Putting school on hold would prolong her current financial situation, something she desperately wants to change.

Without the loan, Silvia thinks that she would need to ask her parents or other family members but worries that this may not be possible because her father is the only income generator in their family. He works as a carpenter while her mother tends to the house and family. Both her parents were only able to complete their primary education before they needed to enter the workforce. This loan will help Silvia to focus on finishing her law degree and become the professional that she aspires to be.

Silvia has two brothers and one sister, but she will be the first student in her family to earn her college degree. She hopes to be an example for her siblings. With multiple college-educated people in the family, Silvia feels hopefully that together her siblings can change her family’s status and provide a comfortable life for each other. She currently earns $350 per year, but she hopes to earn over $6,000 annually after she graduates. Silvia wants her lenders to know that Sucre, the city where her university is located in, has many students and that this youngsters are very important to the vitality of the city.

This loan is administered by Vittana's partner Banco Fie.
