A loan of $775 helped to buy seedlings, organic fertilizer, and to hire day workers.

Maximiliana's story

Maximiliana, age 34, has a beautiful marriage with Adrián, age 44. The main additions to her family happiness are her two little daughters, Loida and Raquel. It is for them that she devotes all of her work and effort. They share their housing with relatives in a house made from adobe blocks.

Together with her life partner she engages in one of the most productive business activities in the area, the upkeep of organic cacao crops. She is lucky to have some land that is very productive. The quality of the soil contributes considerably to the final income that she gets. Even so, in order to carry out good maintenance, she needs to follow a series of steps that she got from an institution in the field of cacao production.

A little while ago she reconditioned a large part of her crops in order to increase her land’s productivity. She did this in the hope of getting greater profitability during the next season.

She plans to divide her land into two parts. One part will be for pure, organic cacao. It is for this part that she wishes to get cacao plants or seedlings and sacks of organic fertilizer. She also needs to hire ten day workers to help with the planting and maintenance work.

She wishes to continue working with the same motivation as always. This is because her objective is to increase, even more, the dimensions of her land buy purchasing other adjoining land that her neighbors plan to sell in the future.

Therefore, she needs to request 2,000 soles to buy seedlings, organic fertilizer, and to hire day workers to do the maintenance work on her cacao trees.
