Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $850 helped buy electronic tax registers and spare parts.

Magdaline's story

Magdalene lives in Mombasa, Kenya. She is married and has one child. She owns an electronics shop, a business she has been operating for two years now. In this business, she sells electronic tax registers and also does repairs of the same machines.

Magdalene learned about Milango through a friend who invited her to the group and she joined with an aim of accessing credit to improve on her business operations. Her main challenge is occasional low demand.

Magdalene is applying a loan of 73,100 Kenyan shillings to buy electronic tax registers and spare parts. Her extra income will be added to her savings to improve the living standard of her family. She aspires to expand and own a larger electronics repair shop where she will be selling electronics.
