A loan of $225 helped to buy more hair styling products and equipment, including a big dryer, for her salon.

Eva's story

Eva is 22 years old and lives in the town of Mukono in the Mukono region of Uganda. She is married and has one child. For the past two years, Eva has been working hard to manage her salon, which does hair styling.

To help expand her business, Eva has requested a loan of 600000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more hair styling products and equipment, including a big dryer. This will help Eva generate greater profits and save some money for her child's school fees. Eva hopes that in the future she will be able to develop her business more.

Eva is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities and a forum for life-skills training.
