Twitezimbere Bahinzi /kzr Group's story

Emmanuel is a rice farmer. He belongs to the joint-liability association called Twitezimbere Bahinzi /kzr Group. He is married and is 35 years old. Emmanuel has four children, the eldest of whom is 12 years old and the youngest of whom is nine. Two of his children currently attend school. He has no additional dependents other than his four children. He was born in Rwanda and has had five years of primary education.

Emmanuel began working with ACB Ltd in 2012 and is on his second loan cycle. His first loan has been fully repaid. With his present loan, Emmanuel plans to purchase 80 kilos of chemical fertilizers, and to pay for the labor required to work his rice field. As he does not expect to have any problems with repayment, Emmanuel's planning strategy is to cultivate in a timely manner, and to use good quality seeds. This will maximize his agricultural yields. His ambition is to become the largest rice grower in the region. For his family, Emmanuel plans to educate his children to the university level.
