A loan of $950 helped a member to buy more fruits that will be used for making juice.

Prossy's Group's story

Prossy's group is composed of six hard working women. Prossy is 22 years old and lives in the town of Lugazi in the Mukono region of Uganda. She is married and has one child. For the past four years, Prossy has been working hard to manage her small business, which sells juice.

To help expand her business, Prossy has requested a loan of 800,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more fruits that will be used for making juice. It will help Prossy to generate greater profits and buy basic needs for home like food.

Prossy hopes that in the future she will be able to own a big store that sells sugarcane and to become a big supplier in town.

Prossy is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities and a forum for life-skills training.
